RNAseq Reveals Differential Gene Expression Contributing to Phytophthora nicotianae Adaptation to Partial Resistance in Tobacco

چکیده

Phytophthora nicotianae is a devastating oomycete plant pathogen with wide host range. On tobacco, it causes black shank, disease that can result in severe economic losses. Deployment of resistance one the most effective means controlling tobacco but adaptation to complete and partial by P. limit long-term effectiveness resistance. The molecular basis largely unknown. RNAseq was performed on two isolates (adapted either susceptible genotype Hicks or partially resistant K 326 Wz/Wz) identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) during their pathogenic interactions Wz/Wz Hicks. Approximately 69% up-regulated DEGs were associated pathogenicity Wz/Wz-adapted isolate when sampled following infection its adapted Wz/Wz. Thirty-one percent Hicks-adapted A broad spectrum over-represented gene ontology (GO) terms assigned down-regulated isolate. In host, series GO involved nuclear biosynthesis processes inoculated This study enhances our understanding mechanisms elucidating how recruits pathogenicity-associated impact biological activities.

Lipoxygenase gene expression in the tobacco-Phytophthora parasitica nicotianae interaction.

A recently isolated cDNA clone of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) lipoxygenase (LOX) was used to study LOX gene expression in tobacco cell-suspension cultures and intact plants in response to infection with Phytophthora parasitica nicotianae (Ppn). Southern blot analysis of tobacco DNA indicated that only a small number of LOX genes hybridize to this probe. These genes were not constitutively ex...

BABA and Phytophthora nicotianae Induce Resistance to Phytophthora capsici in Chile Pepper (Capsicum annuum)

Induced resistance in plants is a systemic response to certain microorganisms or chemicals that enhances basal defense responses during subsequent plant infection by pathogens. Inoculation of chile pepper with zoospores of non-host Phytophthora nicotianae or the chemical elicitor beta-aminobutyric acid (BABA) significantly inhibited foliar blight caused by Phytophthora capsici. Tissue extract a...

Relationship between epistasis and aggressiveness in resistance of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) to Phytophthora nicotianae

This study evaluated the types of gene action governing the inheritance of resistance to Phytophthora nicotianae necrosis in populations derived from two crosses involving two susceptible (Beldi and Nabeul II) and one resistant (CM334) cultivars of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). Populations, composed of Pr, Ps, F(1) , F (2) , BC (1) Pr, and BC (1) Ps generations, were inoculated with six P. nicot...

Comparative Transcriptomics Reveals Differential Gene Expression Related to Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Resistance in the Octoploid Strawberry

The strawberry is an important fruit worldwide; however, the development of the strawberry industry is limited by fungal disease. Anthracnose is caused by the pathogen Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and leads to large-scale losses in strawberry quality and production. However, the transcriptional response of strawberry to infection with C. gloeosporioides is poorly understood. In the present st...
